THERMAL EXPANSION AND DARK COLOURS:

When selecting colours, clients and designers should be aware that darker shades absorb and retain more heat than lighter colours. This can lead to increased thermal expansion, which is a normal and expected characteristic of metal roofing and cladding. As a result, you may occasionally hear popping, creaking, or banging noises, particularly during temperature fluctuations. These natural movements are accounted for in the NZMRM Code of Practice and are referenced in the MBIE Guide to Tolerances, Materials and Workmanship in New Residential Construction (2015).

PIR (Polyisocyanurate) is a high-performance rigid foam insulation commonly used as the core material in insulated panels for commercial, industrial, and cold storage buildings. Renowned for its excellent thermal insulation and fire resistance, PIR is a thermoset plastic. Its closed-cell structure offers low thermal conductivity, making it highly effective at reducing heat transfer, improving energy efficiency and reducing annual electrical consumption in coolrooms & freezers.
